Shaquille O'Neal Drop Step: Watch Shaq Daddy DROP
his opponent, STEP on him, and Dunk in his face. Most powerful post move ever!
1. Find a way to receive the basketball in the low post of the basketball court.
2. Give one to two head fakes and shoulder fakes as if you want to shoot here. The goal is to get your opponent to hold his back up so that you can back closer to the basketball hoop by posting up.
3. When his back is up. Initiate dribble and start posting up. If you are on the right side of the paint, dribble with your right hand and back towards your left side. Lower your body when pushing your way through.
4. When you are almost inside the charge arc region in an NBA basketball court (approximately 4-6 feet from under the basketball hoop), stop dribbling. Lean back and push with your hindquarters to get yourself more space and position.
5. Do a head and shoulder fake to the left side while keeping the dribble.
6. Here is the key point. While doing the head fake, throw your right leg around your opponent¡¯s right leg as if they are entangled.
7. Land with your toes then quickly switch to your heel. Stop the dribble, perform a heel pivot and do a 180 degree spin to the right.
8. Your opponent should have fallen outside the court of completely lost his position, giving you the chance for an easy baby hook, an easy lay in, or even a dunk of your choice.
Physical requirement
Massive body
Quick and Strong feet
Skill requirement:
Post-up dribbling
Head and shoulder fake
Heel pivot and spin
Applicability 8/10
You need someone to feed you the ball and it will not work when the paint of the
basketball court is fully penetrated.
Flexibility 9/10
Can be done on both legs and both sides provided that the player is strong on
both feet. When your opponent becomes wary of your drop step, you will have a
much easier time doing a simple hook.
Flash-ability 9/10
Unless you are as strong as Shaq daddy, you probably cannot drop your opponent
onto the ground or bump him out of bounds. Yet, unleashing a move similar to a
Judo throw is quite flashy too.
